non-native flatmate saw that the toilet flush didnt stop and looking at the water meter was just putting 50 liters of water literally down the drain every hour. asked me to tell our ladnlord to fix it, they couldnt bcs language barrier.
so instead of texting the landlord and waiting for 2 weeks, letting 1000 liters of water go to waste each day, i pulled of the cover and found basically one big block of chalk blocking the bobby but that closes the pipe when the tank is full.
20 minutes later and a loooot of vinegar essence izs as good as new and also the tank doesnt take like 10 minutes to fill up anymore.
So the float valve was prevented from closing by hard water deposits?
yeah.
a nearly 1mm thick crust all over the mechanical parts, and an even thicker layer on the non-moving parts. and that thicker layer grew and grew until it reached the mrchanical parts and locked them in place
It may be a good idea to use a toilet tank scale preventer pucks to prevent mineral buildup on your flusher parts.
This may also help with toilet bowl deposits and staining from hard water.
will look into that, thanks (still really new into fixing stuff myself)
