PizzAut: Italy's first pizzerias run by autistic personnel

23d 1h ago by lemmy.world/u/Puddinghelmet in wholesome@reddthat.com from www.youtube.com

Autistic youth often end up outside the labour market, according to Italian entrepreneur Nicola Acampora. That's why he started PizzAut in Monza: a restaurant where only people with autism work. The concept is a hit: Acampora now runs two popular restaurants that are always fully booked. If you want to eat there on the weekend, you’ll need to reserve weeks in advance.

'Currently, it is estimated that around seven million people in Europe are on the autism spectrum. Yet, the autistic community remains greatly underemployed: while the overall employment rate in the EU currently sits at 73%, estimates show that for the autistic population, this figure can drop to below 10%.'

PizzaAut!...what kind of pizza combination are you out on the market to purchase?

Pepperoni?

Yes that is one of the toppings offered for purchase!

Pepperoni pizza?...

Fantastic! And how many?

Just 2. Two pizzas.

No, I mean pepperoni pieces.

Oh, I want 3 per slice!

Hmm actually the pizza was just sliced into 13 perfectly equal slices that guarantee complete entry into your nutritional cavity. There was a pepperoni slice right at the center. Is that okay?

Yes. I think that's okay.

Alrighty! Only one pepperoni in the center with 13 equal slices! Coming out as soon as the pizza is pulled from the oven! (As it is quoloquially shouted when the order is complete)!!!!
