Finally upgraded my 2012 MacBookPro from EOL LMDE 6 to the current LMDE 7 with about 40 days to go. Took several hours. Ate several icepops as I did so.

Shut down the laptop when it was done.

Ah, it's always good to get those boring but necessary tasks done and dusted! Personally, I never let myself range into EOL versions of OS because. I get ants in my pants, not that I ever will given Garuda Linux and Solus can pretty much be installed once and upgraded for years at a time.

Lmde has in-place upgrade, which is useful, and made it boring and mundane (ok by me!). I wouldn't call a month before EOL as playing with fire yet, but I was getting mighty close lol

I used to use Solus, back when it was Evolve, when I was distro hopping. Never used Garuda.

Hah, you were in range of a polite reminder to update your OS before EOL enters effect. Garuda Linux is pretty much Arch with an actual installer and sane defaults. Never boring and always rolling, I have yet to suffer major issues with their colorful KDE edition. Just the Sway Edition of Garuda which the maintainer will fix after university and job hunting is less of an issue.

Solus is beautiful, consistent, and has a good community of helpful peeps. I will be recommending them over Ubuntu to new Linux users. As it is rolling release done well.

linux mint upgrades are wonderfully uneventful. clem does an amazing job with that.
