What was the equivalent of calling someone a bitch directed at a man to fight him back during the Empire stage of civ? Was there like a "literal line in the sand"? For someone who felt wronged?

Anything before 1800
Which geographical area?
Look, no self respecting historian is going to give you an answer based on such a vague question. Throughout history many different empires have existed in many different areas of the world. Social rules in each of them will have been different. If you are interested in history start with one period that you find interesting and progress from there.
It's vague to leave it up to the historian to choose from for example roman, russian, mongolian, chines. korean. What is hard understanding it? It is left open so anyone can choose which empire or civilization. That is why this community is called askhistorians. Now if you dislike the phrasing then post a better question that suits you better.
