My broadband internet just went down, I am heading out for some dinner
14d 6h ago by lemmy.zip/u/stoy in dull_mens_clubMy ISP is one of the largest in Sweden, Telenor, and I can't even reach their website on mobile: telenor.se
Anyway, I am heading out to get some dinner.
Hopefully the restaurant doesn't use your ISP for processing payments.
It used to drive me crazy, but these days I love it when my Internet goes down. Can't work if I can't get online. Can't mindlessly scroll timewasting websites on my computer (bonus points if my phone has no cell signal).
Just all the time to play games, read, get things done around the house, take a walk, etc.
Power outage can be nice too, but more limiting.
But sometimes of course no Internet means you can't do things you need to or want to. Don't mean to minimize the annoyance it can cause, and I hope you're connected again soon if you want to be.
The real shit one is a water outage. We had a line break a few streets over and we had no water for a day but it made me realize that we are pretty fucked if the water goes down ever. We have a 10000L rainwater pit but that isn't really drinkable, more for toilets and garden and if we add filters, washing clothes.
That sucks.
You’re basically a caveman rn
I hope you remembered to take cash
Yeah, last year I decided to start carry cash again, in case of Russian hybrid attacks, I have yet to need it
I heard it's not even accepted in most places in Sweden, crazy if true
Like in 2006 I took a bus in sweden, they didn't accept cash.
But they also didn't accept my visa card. Only mobile pay. 🤪🫠
Did you have to walk?
Nah, we got the free ride, which is almost as impressive. Rules are not to be broken in sweden you know. Ever.
Do Swedes have a saying like Ordnung muss sein?
Congrats btw!
Rätt ska vara rätt!
With the meaning that the law is to be (perfectly) applied (everywhere/to everyone).
I guess it's the same vein.
Thanks 😁!
