I'll answer this quickly, because I'm sure it'll get deleted. You know, because you posted it in Ask Historians, which doesn't fit.

As I understand it, Jon Lovitz only hit Andy Dick once, and it was at a bar, not on a set. But Dick definitely reintroduced drugs to Phil Hartman's wife, who eventually murdered him.

Why quickly it falls well over 20 years ago.?
