Yup, that's my take away as well. No notes.
So now my head cannon is that Freddy chills in dogs dreams when he needs a break from the grind.
When dogs look like they're running in their sleep, that's Freddy playing fetch with them. He plays the most with abused and neglected dogs so they don't turn out like him.
I bet he gives the best scritches.

I haven't watched a freddy except freddy vs jason but I feel like this is something he'd actually do.
