Idea: consolidate the GW lemmy communities
5d 15h ago by piefed.social/u/illi in guildwars2@lemmy.wtfSo - with GW3 on the horizon and the announcement of support for all 3 games I started to wonder about the lemmy communities.
With lemmy and piefed being not as big as the other place, I came to terms with the fact that highly specified communities don't really make sense as those are a niche within a niche and so get limited activity.
That said, I was always glad to see GW2 having a relatively active comm and I'm a little concerned about what GW3 might do with it. Also, since it's GW2 specific it's not a great place to hype up GW3. And while I see GW3 community exists, there is all in all 2 subs on there.
So I'd like to propose having a central, Guild Wars Franchise community where all 3 games would be discussed. This would make thr community more active, while also giving people idea what's happening in the other games.
Thoughts?
PS: I thought I'd also directly tag @meldrik@lemmy.wtf here, as a moderator of both GW1 and GW2 comms and also sole poster in GW3 comm (which makes me think you made it as well?) to also ask you directly what you think about the idea. I don't have any experience with this so maybe you will tell my why it's not a good idea?
Is there a way to flair posts on lemmy? My only issue would be posts that are not easily differentiated between games.
Not yet, but I think it's planned for version 1.0.
While your suggestion make sense, I don't think it will make a difference. guildwars2@lemmy.wtf is already very inactive imho. I'm almost the only one who posts and I hardly do.
I created GuildWars3@lemmy.wtf just a few days ago. We don't know exactly how Guild Wars 3 is gonna play out, but the original Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 are two fundamentally different games.
That's fair, it'd likely jave its own problems.
I guess I just got really excited about it all.
