Dragon's Dogma 2 hands out an infinite fast travel item after people wouldn't stop moaning about how laborious it was to go anywhere

That's the problem with this generation: iPhones and Eternal Ferrystones.
Welp in everyone’s defense, video games are supposed to be fun. I already have a job. When I get to the part of the day where I can play a game, I don’t want to do more work.
Also I have not played this game.
I have played all game. And the first game did the same thing with making you run around everywhere just to give an infinite fast travel item when dark arisen came out. But itsuno really wanted people to try to stick to his vision of what the game should be. Infinite ferrystone mod was one of the first made for 2.
As someone who has played through maybe a third of the game and has a job and kind of older I agree with your statement, but I honestly enjoyed the game and the limitations they put on people. It gave it a more realistic approach and I loved that you had several options to get places but journeying there yourself was an adventure in its self and to me it felt more epic due to that. I will say as I did not beat the game I do believe this may get old by the end possibly since there were limited monsters and exploring also did not seem to have enough variables to keep it fresh. If they worked more on keeping the journey more unique with less repeats it would have been perfect. I also have a hard time finishing games these days so me not beating it is not an indication that i did not like it but more likely i found something else i really wanted to play. I absolutely loved my time in the game and was blown away with the things they threw at you that were different from any other game ive seen to date which was so cool.
It goes back to old school games when roughly 4-5 hours of "gameplay", by the end of the game, was walking between destinations. Add in random encounters and someone could be stuck in one area for a hour just to get across the map.
Too meddlesome if you just got off work, IMO.
When the time put into a game is mostly travel time or maintenance, it stops being fun.
Yeah if you can like set course on a ship its a bit better. I do find inventory management as the absolute worst blocker to game enjoyment though.
Ships/vehicles that are able to move in the direction without needing constant steering or handling is nice. Move around, live a little, still get where you need to go.
