Today I learned I can read a lot of paywalled articles using my Library Card

People have always been trying to find ways around the paywall. Turns out I was able to download my library app (LibrariesNI, I don't know if other UK libraries have the same benefits, but I assume they would) somehow dug out my old childhood library card details (I had it saved on Google Drive because of school I guess from when I was a kid?). Anyway I logged on, it prompted me to download an app called "Libby" which then offers 30 day access to pressreader which seems to be infinitely renewable.. at least I hope it is

Anyway, thought you should know

Huh, nice. Hell yeah to libraries for yet another reason!

Yep, I heard that some other countries have more library services than at least here in Northern Ireland. I don't really read fiction, and fiction here (or children's non fiction) is what libraries generally stock here. I wish they adapted like the Post Office has

Hm..... that's actually really neat.

I usually load up one of the Archive sites and paste the URL to see if it has been archived and read it through there.

I usually just click on Reader Mode and everything a bot wouldn't see disappears, leaving just the article text and images.

Doesnt work for everything, but most of the time it does.

That's a good point I forget about reader mode. Thanks for that :D

In Firefox, you can force reader mode (if the button for it isn’t showing up, for example) by adding

`about:reader?url=`

to the beginning of your URL in the address bar.
