After 10 years of work, modders have remade classic RPG Ultima Underworld in Unity with 3D models, new sound effects, and controller support
Some bright spark has remade Looking Glass classic Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss in the Unity engine with new 3D models and sound effects, plus controller support. Ultima Underworld, often cited as the original first-person 3D RPG! Ultima Underworld, also considered a primordial specimen of the immersive sim! Now that I've lured you down past the trailer embed, it is time for a disgusting confession: I have never played Ultima Underworld. The upside of our tardiness is that you're hearing about Unity Underground in the wake of a lot of bug-fixing. 🖊️️🤖

Paralives continues to sound promising with a roadmap outlining free updates The Sims would normally charge for
While I've never really played all that much of The Sims (does maybe four hours of My Sims Kingdom from when I was 11 count? All of this to say, Paralives continues to sound convincing for the expansion fatigued Simmers thanks to its first roadmap. Ahead of the game's early access release next week, Paralives Studio shared a sparsely detailed but conceptually promising roadmap outlining what you can expect in the coming months and years. It's when you get to the bit about free updates that'll really have you questioning how The Sims does things. No further details about what else can be expected in updates were shared, but this does have me wondering how The Sims will fare if Paralives does well. 🖊️️🤖

Classic strategy games Empire Earth 1, 2 & 3 arrive on Steam
While they were already on GOG, the Empire Earth games have now arrived fully on Steam so you can jump into this classic RTS series. I have some really fond memories of playing the first game online, so it's tempting to grab the bundle to play easily on Linux via Proton. Sadly, none of them seem like they have been updated at all, so it's a case of taking them as they come. Official online support was also ended for all three of them, but there are at least some community patches out there that can restore it - EE, EE2. No wonder it took so long to rerelease Final Fantasy Tactics—the source code was lost: 'Keeping that kind of data wasn't a normal thing to do at the time'
FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles | Announcement Trailer - YouTube Watch OnI played Final Fantasy Tactics in an emulator on my phone. Later this year, me and you and everyone else will be able to play it in a proper remastered version when Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles comes out on PC and consoles. For this rerelease they had to rebuild Final Fantasy Tactics from scratch. "Among fans of the original game," Maehiro said, "there will be those who believe that the game doesn't need a lot of embellishment. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles will be out on September 30 via Steam. 🖊️️🤖
