More of a philosophical question. Can we even beat Egoism to emerge as a stronger species, or will it be, once again, bringing down a civilization?

Humans can beat it; several countries already have.
Egoism is already bringing down many civilizations., but there are others.
Which countries have beaten egoism?
Many countries with powerful social security systems have beaten egoism. They've proved that social support can be more powerful than self-interest by investing resources into society rather than ego-driven systems.
