Does anyone else use Image Gen in their head?

21h 31m ago by lemdro.id/u/mudkip in fuck_ai

I used to love using image generation whenever I had a weird idea or wanted to see something, but after this place educated me on where the training data comes from and what those datacenters burn through, I stopped opening the app and writing prompts. Now I just make the image in my own head.

Recently I found out I have the ability to use a form of Image Gen internally for free. I'd generated so many AI images that I can almost entirely predict what the model would've spat out anyway.

For example, I was walking past a coffee shop and saw this orange cat sitting in the window with a tiny croissant next to it. Old me would've opened the app and asked it to make "a cinematic photo of a sleepy orange cat guarding a croissant in a cozy Parisian café," but then I realized it wasn't worth the water and just generated it in my head.

It gave me something like: warm morning light, shallow depth of field, tiny paws, slightly surreal but still realistic. No glossy plastic skin, no sixth toe, and it didn't scrape a single artist to do it. Then I imagined the cat wearing a little beret because obviously the model would've done that.

I just thought that was a pretty cool discovery I've made. Interested to see if anyone else has this ability.

Had to triple check I wasn't in shit posting for a second there. OP, this is called imagination.

There was a meme of a guy who heard x percent of people have no thoughts when they aren’t speaking. I assume this particular post is satire but in general, I’m afraid too many people fall into the ‘no thinking’ category.

For anyone confused - this is a play on a genuine post a few days ago where a guy asked ai "in his head" what his cat wanted and just got the answer that way.

Now I feel bad, but please link that post if you can I need to see that lmao

My fellow autists, this is a joke!

Is everyone that quick on the downvote?

It's difficult for me to discern when a post like this is intended to be genuine or satirical, but on the assumption you are posting a true observation about yourself…

…yep, this is what artists do. They have an idea, they visualize it in detail with their minds, and then they use their skills to produce a stylized version of that in some real-world fashion.

It's awesome you're developing visualization skills! I know there are some people seem to lack that ability altogether (aphantasia), but it's something I've been able to do well since a very young age. While I am not an illustrator, I'm a graphics designer & photographer, and I'm not sure I could do either well without that ability.

Yeah, its called "imagination" and is very common.
