Here is a very simple one. Memorize the bottom card. Easy to nonchalantly tilt the deck when explaining what youd like them to do. Then fan out the deck face down and ask them to pick a card. Then get them to place it on top. Next get them to cut the deck and put the bottom half on top which places the bottom card you've memorized to the left of their card. Now flip the deck and search for their card and reveal.

I only know "52 pick-up".

One fun element is the double lift card trick reveal.

Like get their card ontop somehow and the descretly lift the top 2 cards up, pretending they are just a single card. Then you show them the 2nd to top card and ask is this your card? They will say no, you put the two cards on the top of the deck, do a magic tap or something, and then you only lift the top card, their card off the top of the deck after it transforms into theirs

Sneak a peek at the card on the bottom of the deck let's say its the 2 of clubs. Fan out the deck and tell someone to pull the 2 of clubs randomly out of the deck and hand it to you face down without looking at it. You look at whatever card they just pulled let's say its the ace of spades. Tell them to pull the ace of spades randomly from the deck same as before not looking at it and handing It to you face down. You look at it let's say its the king of diamonds. You tell them that you are going to pull the king of diamonds from the deck randomly but you covertly pull the card from the bottom of the deck. Now shuffle the 3 cards and show them in the order you just called out, 2 of clubs, ace of spades, and king of diamonds. Works best when the person you're doing it to has had a few drinks.

I know a couple of math tricks you can do with playing cards.

• Give an audience member a pre-sorted deck of cards. Remove any card. Riffle shuffle the deck 3 times (4 if you're bold). Return the removed card to a random position in the deck. Magician examines the deck and identifies the card.

• Audience member selects any 5 cards and hands them the the magician's beautiful assistant. Assistant examines these cards, and reveals 4 of them, one at a time, to the magician. Magician predicts the 5th card.

Grab a deck of cards. Hold it face down, so the backs are on top. Take the bottom card and flip it so its back is on the bottom. Now the deck should have a back on both sides.

Go up to someone, ask them to pick a card at random. Fan out the deck, making sure not to reveal the flipped bottom card.

Ask them to study the card carefully and memorise it. While they are looking at it, flip the deck so the bottom card is now on top. The deck looks the same to them, but now all the cards other than the new top card (the bottom card you flipped previously) are now face up.

Take their card and slide it into the middle of the deck. (don't fan out again, obviously, that will spoil the trick).

Announce you will find their card in the deck. Place it behind your back. Quickly do two things: flip the top card around so it is now facing the same way as the rest of the deck. Then rotate the deck once more so all the cards are facing down, backs on top.

Bonus points if you then make some obvious flipping/shuffling sounds.

Bring the deck back in front of you, flick the top with your fingers, and then fan it all out. The card they picked will be the only face up card in the deck.

Works best for just one person you are trying to impress, too easy for gawkers to notice you rotating the deck. Though if you are better at sleight of hand than me you could probably get away with it by asking your volunteer to make a big show of showing everyone the cars so they can all see.
