"Bruce" mechanical shark from Jaws.

That’s a regular shark with the casing open. Can’t fool us.

Pretty amazing for its time really. Even for today, to build a waterproof creature that big, and put it through its paces for moths on set. What a feat. Thanks for all your hard work, Bruce.

Love the film too.

But it wasn't waterproof. It was constantly breaking down which ultimately led to the benefit of the audience not seeing the shark as often as Spielberg originally planned.

It didn't fare well. Turns out it had only been tested in a pool, not salt water and it was a whole lot less waterproof than it was supposed to be.

I love how they gave the shark a wheelchair because it doesn't have legs. That's so wholesome.

I've met Bruce! He was in a discovery museum when I was a kid, along with one of the stuntmen he "ate'. It was so cool for my sister and me, we were obsessed with Jaws movies when we were little.

Love u Bruce💙

Every Tim a guy is named Bruce or something is just a little Easter egg that his parents were hamdoggin’ it to J.A.W.S. down at the drive in theater back in the day

I hate that he died from ODing on ice cream.
