14d 21h ago in bicycles@lemmy.ca from globalnews.caWhen I worked in downtown Calgary my old touring bike was left locked to outside racks all day and never got stolen. Probably because it was a deeply uncool bike that no self respecting methhead would want to be seen with, ha ha.

How often do you change your hairstyle or colour?
15d 17h ago in womensstuff@piefed.blahaj.zoneI did that years ago, but at age 68 I look like a witch from a fairy tale with long hair. Plus, it takes ages to dry.
I lost all mine to chemo in 2023 and the one time it was a real advantage was on summer days when the temperature hit 30°C or higher. I did buy a wig at the time, but it felt like a steel pot scrubber on my scalp, so scarves were all that covered it until it grew back.
I no longer do. I found a style that works for me and is not hard to care for, so I'm sticking with it. Mind you, on very hot days I'm tempted to have it all shaved off, lol.

1mon 13d ago in womensstuff@piefed.blahaj.zoneThe only time I've ever bought "luxury" brands was when I found them in shops like Winners (TJ Maxx in the USA). Sometimes it's been a good buy, sometimes I think "Huh, glad I didn't pay the full suggested retail price".

1mon 21d ago in womensstuff@piefed.blahaj.zone from piefed.cdn.blahaj.zoneI will get back to the outside work that was interrupted by a massive dump of snow on Friday. I have cleaned my dryer vent cap and got the flapper working again, now I will make a hinged wired cover from some hardware cloth that a kind person on the local Freecycle group gave me. Just have to figure out the best way to attach it.
