Has anyone managed to make DIY desk chair?
12h 6m ago in asklemmyThe high back with the wings is a fairly newish design say maybe in the last 6 years on so. Not sure where you might get that.
Do you have an ideal? Are you looking for comfort? Or style say a gaming seat or a retro swivel type thing?
Will be keen to see the tutorial and results of this.
Any solution for people deleting their asklemmy posts?
1d 12h ago in asklemmyI agree that a solution is required to an annoying problem.
My question is why does this occur? Is it trolls? Malicious actors? Behaviour that is tolerated elsewhere? Why do you think it is occurring?

Young people deserve more than a say – they deserve a seat at the table
1d 18h ago in uk_politics@feddit.uk from www.bigissue.comThe problem is even with a seat at the table, they won’t be listened to. Democracy is dead as long as money and tech override every seat at the table.
The quicker the pretence is dropped the better. I hope the young and the old choose revolution.
One City Might Have Just Cracked The Housing Crisis
2d 12h ago in mildlyinteresting from www.nytimes.comReally...They built blocks of flats...little parking. Pretended like there was a cultural representation to the first nations people. This feels like a marketing stunt. Tower blocks have existed for ages, only markereters can spin this like a solution to a social issue and a cultural revolution at the same time.
"The first three buildings, which are now complete, contain 1,408 rental apartments. A few hundred units are subsidized for lower-income families, including 63 reserved specifically for members of the Squamish nation." wow a tad of charity in return for a giant real estate project in vancouver.
Share your experience on fighting* for privacy and what obstacles - if any - have recently been put in place by your government to make resistance difficult?
4d 6h ago in privacy@lemmy.ml from inv2.nadeko.netI don't think most people can acknowledge when their personal and online intersected, they can... but they see online privacy as an online thing, not a real life thing. You wouldn't give a stranger at the shop your driving license just to get in.
I think it has to be more common. The idea that you have to live in the shadows won’t help resistance long term.
It needs to be an open conversation so people know they can and should unite and fight against civil abuses
