Is there a way to filter out ads?

1mon 11d ago by piefed.social/u/Cherry in pixelfed

I use the native app. I follow #tags rather than people. So i often go on public view to do some exploring. I am noticing a lot more products/service for sale images is there a way i can filter them out? I like it here as i know its generally not add based but pixelfed is starting to feel when small business inserted themselves into insta.

I am very for from being an expert, only surface level knowledge but to my understanding there is no way to tag your posts that it is an ad, so when you follow a tag I guess you just get all of it.

Out of curiosity what things do you follow where you can find ads?

I only follow a few, crochet, gardening, sewing etc. Mostly hobbies. I saw one recently for someone who cleans garden septic tanks.

I was referring more to the public feed. I like to look on there for interesting accounts, im seeing a lot of betting/online casino ones...i am often tempted to report them as spam...but i am not sure if there is a rule about that. I have seen a few tech tech service ones, and generally smaller services/retail (artwork /clothing etc) using it to do promotions.

Haha I would report betting and casino in an instant, I have zero tolerance for them, So then the mods could decide if it should be removed!
