Just for the record, I'm not offended by what you think. A world where everyone thought alike would not be a place I want to live. I recently watched 2 films all the way through to the end and they both sucked (IMO). I want my 4 hours back. There have been others I did turn off. Sometimes it's just a mood thing and sometimes its not. So yeah... it's all good. -OP

"People will go see sequels, adaptations, and remakes." These are the same people that vote.

Years and years ago, I turned to foreign and independent films. Maybe 1 or 2 Hollywood films a year. I won't watch Part N, or any sequel. Complete gd lack of imagination.

There's no way I can pick "a" favorite. It also would depend on the mood I'm in when you ask, LOL. I use tmdb to keep track of my watches, and really, there are so, so many with a 10/10 score. "Adaptation" is in that 10 list. I'll give you a few that are amazing movies, but probably not popular in the US and you haven't seen unless you're a cinephile. random selection:

Tigers Are Not Afraid (2017) Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring (2003) Black Orpheus (1959), Greek myth told thru Brazilian cultural lens Riders of Justice (2021) Searching for Sugarman (2012), music documentary Haider (2014), Indian director's Shakespeare retelling

I tend to really like movies that have something to say on a deeper level(s), that remind us how complex it is to be human. Sometimes I have to think about a movie for a few days before I even realize why it worked so well. Sometimes I see a movie and it's fascinating but I'm not sure why. Then I find the "lens" to interpret the film and it opens the whole film for me.

As for which aspect of the film, I'm usually looking at acting. It can make or break the experience for me.
