It's time to dump Roku

Depending on how maintenance-free this is once it's configured (because non-technical people are not going to mess with things), this actually looks like a pretty solid solution. Thank you!

I have the hosted part taken care of but the other half of the issue is the media player side for people that are not technical at all. They basically need a device where they can open an app that just works and have a simple interface to navigate around and play media.

What suggestions do you have for simple media players that techy people could recommend to their families? It seems like for the most part we're limited to Android-based devices or the Apple TV.

The main difference seems to be that the Prime model includes start/select buttons. I use a keyboard for navigation so that hasn't been a big deal for me, mine is the EX Pro. There's a detailed comment here for additional differences (sorry it's on reddit): https://old.reddit.com/r/DanceDanceRevolution/comments/1iqrrtn/new_and_clueless/md33x8k/

I highly recommend L-TEK if your budget allows: https://www.iamats.com/

I have one for DDR and one for PIU, both have been great.

Do you still use compact discs?

They are not being manufactured anymore but it is still possible to buy new old stock. One guy is trying to keep them in circulation (he owns floppydisk.com) and I found a somewhat recent article that has some good info as well: https://www.raconteur.net/technology/the-floppygeddon-cometh

Yes. As time goes on, old equipment continues to fail or get recycled so less of it is available, and there are still people interested for numerous reasons. The CT1350 sells for around $70+ USD on eBay at the moment. 486 hardware is getting more desirable.

[Solved] Do you recognize this PC case?

Or this one maybe, the only model I can find is t746.fr but I'm pretty sure this case design was available in other European countries.

Other cards like Care Credit may offer no interest for a period of time (Best Buy's Citi card only offers that for Best Buy purchases). Best Buy also used to have two cards, one was a store card that could only be used at Best Buy, and the other one the Citi card. Not sure if the store card is still offered.
