I’m with you about their rights, but does not society come into the consideration at all?

If a user posts a help request, a lot of the time that will be indexed by a search engine. Deleting that message completely then leads to dead search results. That’s not only frustrating, it’s a waste of time and effort for everyone.

It costs people their time to answer questions, it costs time and money to host a Lemmy instance. I don’t think a middle ground is ridiculous. Let the user anonymize themselves, but outright deleting a thread harms the network.

I was going for a joke about our government’s Executive branch and how dysfunctional it is.

That aside, I hear you. I have my own maladies that are invisible. I’m currently fighting with my employer just to get a quiet work space so I can be productive again. They’re forcing me to get a doctor to require it because they’re so ridiculous. They won’t enforce any kind of office etiquette (open office plan), so people yell and are incredibly rude all day every day.

After about two hours of that environment, I have switched context too many times to focus through the noise and movement.
