Is this all paint or is this mixed media? I think usually this style of art is mixed with paints, colored pencils, ink pens, and other medias, no?

Generally a high vote count is supposed to be primarily used to tell a user that:

  • this comment was made by a human
  • it is on topic to the conversation
  • it contributes to the conversation in a way that encourages further conversation
  • it is factually true, or it is not factually true but the user didn't know initially and was later corrected

Usually, a low negative vote count is supposed to mean:

  • this comment was made by a bot
  • it is off topic
  • it is a thread dead end
  • it is factually false, or the user knew it was factually false and did not correct it

It shoupd be noted that "factually true/false" does not mean "I think this or that" or "this isnt that because," it means "this is wrong and here is the verifiable source link." The conversations where votes tend to most often break these general points are political or emotional in nature, where a "factual truth may not exist for both sides or multiple different truths exist (ie, political ideologies ignoring something from 'the other side')," rather than something like scientific discussion where there is only one singular factual truth on a matter.

Of course, these have become so diluted now that negative votes on a comment could mean anything from "I dont agree with this users politics and didn't read past the first sentence before voting" to "this comment was already downvoted when I got here so I just downvoted it again without reading what it says because everyone else must be right."

... Go on....

unless you wrote something truly horrible

Look, I will be honest, I don't like this about social media platforms. Nobody is perfect and not every person universally agrees on everything together. Disagreements and arguments are a guarantee. Who decides what is "truly horrible?" It should be defined in the rules by the mods and admins, not by each individual user.

Downvote a post or comment however you want, sure. But nobody should be following accounts to harass them in other threads or vote brigading every post they make just because they don't like or agree with a post. People do this all the time on Reddit, and Lemmy is no different, they do it here too. This is way more devastating to Lemmy than deleting comments or posts.

If a post or comment actually breaks rules, that is the moderator's and admin's job to take care of. Report it and let them handle it.

Nobody should be deleting posts, I agree, but also please don't be a Brigade Bozo. Nobody likes a Brigade Bozo.

EDIT: Also, may want to add "Why you should know this:" before your last paragraph.

Your best JRPG for a new player

I liked Legend of Dragoon on PS1, at least what I played of it. My save got corrupted during my playthrough and it was like 5 hours in. Maybe eventually I will be motivated enough to restart it.

I hate most JRPGs for two reasons:

  1. I hate random battles
  2. The turn based menu combat is boring because it gets repetitive fast

The random battles can occasionally get a pass, as long as they dont interrupt my exploration too often and when they are not overly repetitive.

Legend of Dragoon addressed these two in different ways.

  1. Random battles didn't really interrupt my exploration excessively compared to other games like Final Fantasy. FF almost feels disrespectful of my time in that regard.

  2. The combat stayed interesting because of the QTE-style bonus damage on some moves, and the 3D environments of the battles varied often enough that it didn't feel overly repetitive.

Another recommendation is Racing Lagoon. This one tackles both issues as well:

  1. Random races happen but not too often. You can see the cars coming since they flash their lights and honk their horn. You can pretty simply avoid them if you dont want to race them by moving out of the way (they follow the direction of the road based on which side they are on).

  2. Races aren't really repetitive, there is a multitude of race tracks that are sometimes repeated in reverse for extra variety.

My main issues with Racing Lagoon are the poor visibility due to the PS1 hardware limitations, and the physics unfortunately. Early on, cars feel absolutely horrendous to race with. Once you get good upgrades they get significantly better, but boy does it feel like you get pummeled in races for the first few hours of play. But get past that and the game is pretty good. Unexpected and a very unconventional JRPG.

I wonder if they will have to compensate Marty and Mike for this. I am curious what their agreement was when it came to rights ownership and royalites. A truly legendary soundtrack that none of the 343 games even come close to. They might have one or two bangers, but literally every song from Marty and Mike are slappers.

Holy willfully ignorant, Batman.

This response addresses a claim that SKG already addressed. IP rights have nothing to do with what SKG was asking for.
