Stupendous

It's like that era of putting pink ribbons on everything for breast cancer that also signaled you were a supporter of women. Commercialized activism. Be real. This will sell very little. We'll get some news articles about how it's trending with Gen z that are rejecting technology and always online culture. It'll actually only be a small amount of Gen z but you know blogspam going to blogspam.

It's a crappy product. We need a Linux phone that would actually be a halo product for people to not feel like they're ripping themselves off to get away from Google and Apple

Should have just gone the route of abandoning the hardware business and being a video game software company. Spin off from Microsoft

EA to my knowledge just has shitty business practices. Ubisoft at a minimum had a culture of sexual harrassers, possibly assaulters. Blizzard certainly had rapists. Ubisoft also with the pioneering always online DRM for single player games getting back to the games portion of their evils

How Australia’s social media ban has affected families six months on

2d 14h ago in technology from www.theguardian.com

It's real hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil. And all this outreach to children we always talk about on the left has seemed pretty crappy for results in the last 40 years at least. Conservatives speak to teens just as well if not better without shying away from trying to get adults of all ages on their side

Fox Is Buying Roku in $22 Billion Deal

2d 15h ago in technology from variety.com

Already switched to an Android box since Roku was getting crappy fast. Projectivity launcher. Still need a fork to go mainstream to reign in Googles app developer shenanigans. If memory prices weren't so screwed up, would have been a perfect time for Steam Machines to push regular Linux as an HTPC closer to mainstream

Starmer to unveil social media ban for under-16s

2d 15h ago in technology from www.independent.co.uk

I knew we were screwed back when all the CCTVs went up and became normalized. The spirit of it was nothing new. Just the over the top visibility of it and it not shattering the public's perception of the western worlds viewpoints on our being some sort of example of a free world

Apple is already locked down. Googles already inching at locking down Android phones and governments seem primed to facilitate that. Clamping down on VPNs can be a driver for that. Being way more restrictive on routers too like the US and it's foreign router bans

Why Games Now Take 6+ Years To Make

16d 6h ago in games from www.youtube.com

They're just like Hollywood blockbuster execs. They'd rather one game that copies what they've identified as popular from other games and media to formulate a game that can make hundreds of millions in profit if not into the billions rather making a bunch of smaller games that can make smaller profits. Single to double digit million dollar profits. It'd take a large amount of smaller hits that they can't imagine managing to accomplish to equal the profit of one mega hit so go big or go home. Unless you're Nintendo, they churn out smaller games and they have a brand/game identity that people generally don't seem to be let down from. They're consistent

Go from the summer blockbuster equivalent holiday AAA graphics bonanza game where the rest of the year was filled out with cheaper bets to any month is a month for a blockbuster/AAA game. Well, graphics don't sell games like they used to so you get these multi hundred million dollar budget games struggling to sell any better than AAA games made in 2007 that were made with a fraction of the modern AAA team size and made in like a third of the time to development

AMD Announces Socket AM5 Longevity till 2029

17d 2h ago in hardware from www.techpowerup.com

When I went AM5 when that was new everyone was like DDR5 is overpriced. Stick with AM4 and buy a better GPU. 2029 AM5 at least now. I'll be on AM5 until at least 2035. Really I want to take it to 2040

Somehow the old guard boring car vehicle brands, not GM - maybe not any American brand, are becoming desire brands/models. At worst, never sign up for a car subscription and teach the younger ones that haven't experienced a car phone mount. They're better today than in the past. Instead of finagling with clips, they have magnets
