Where on a corner sofa do you prefer to sit and why?

Awesome question, actually! My sister in law had a couch this shape (L shaped, asymmetrical). And it was oriented this way, with the TV across from the short end. I don't think that's quite right, but they had a narrow room. I'd put the TV facing the long side, so four people can sit. Come to think of it, that's how my uncle did it with his.

At my sister-in-law's place (she's since moved, so this is going back about 20 years now!) I sat on the space between the leftmost two cushions as you look at it. That won't be comfortable on every couch. It was on hers. The reason was, she always took the corner, but she was small and kinda nestled herself in there. My nephew would lay to the far right with his elbows up on the end. It seems to me that most little boys like to lay down in the most uncomfortable position possible, and as long as they're tuned into what's on TV, they're happy to do so. My SIL's loser boyfriend would be between them, under her legs. As for my niece, her spot was next to wherever I was, so because she was so small, I'd sit half a space from the end, and she'd wiggle into the end space.

iOS 27 fixes three of the most annoying Messages bugs

So get anything but an iPhone 17 Pro (or newer) or iPhone Air. It won't get the new AI. If you're looking for a new iPhone, the base 17 is awesome and it won't get the new AI.

You can turn the Liquid Ass mostly opaque. I'm on the iOS 27 dev beta and I have it mostly transparent — more so than iOS 26, I think. That's how it should be for anyone who devs (I don't but I'm not missing the point). Everyone who makes apps should have it locked on most transparent so they can make their apps not look like [liquid] ass. For everyone else, I think it should be able to be fully disabled. Bring back brushed aluminium!

I started Remember Me and Tell Me Why. Got bored real quick with them both. Remember Me, I spent less time with. I should really try it again, see where it goes.

Yes... I was able to disable the subscription-oriented tools from Numbers (Excel) but not Pages (Word). Maybe I didn't try hard enough. They're marked so you can just not click on them, but there's a way to hide them. I did it on one, I can probably do it on the others.

They're completely free with a subscription for GenAI stuff that wasn't there before. They didn't take anything away from the free product.

As far as I can tell, yes — and so is LibreOffice, since people are talking about that one, too. And I suspect they both have the same limitation — encrypted Office files. So yes, I can read .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx files. I can't read Publisher (.pubx) files, but neither can Mac Office users — Microsoft never released Publisher for Mac. I can then write them to the iWork formats. I can also take an iWork document and export to Office. I suspect Office can import iWork files. Office interoperability is mostly a solved problem, though I think there are a few outlier cases.

Not sure why OP is sitting here tanking these hits, but I don't think OP meant to call people who bought perpetual licenses to Office idiots. I think they're saying that Microsoft thinks they're idiots. Still, OP should have clarified that or at least answered at least one person who asked.

Since the OP specifies Mac users, as a Mac user, I find iWork perfectly serviceable. I think it's a bit controversial with its "Ribbon" on the right rather than the top, though it kind of makes sense. I don't love iWork (Writer, Numbers, and Keynote), but they are good and they come with Macs (or at the very least are free in the App Store).

I have tried LibreOffice recently, and I didn't care for it. But I am glad that such a robust free office suite is available on Windows. I believe some Linux distros ship with it, too. If I didn't have iWork, I'd probably just use LibreOffice. It's not terrible, I just have a better choice.

Because unless you're dropping $1500+ for a gaming rig, you can't play them. If you have a gaming PC, it wouldn't be a good deal for you. If you don't have a gaming rig, but you have an Xbox, you could, with my idea, take advantage of Steam's deeper sales and giveaways, and be able to play them on the Xbox.

If you buy a lot of games, you save a lot of money by buying from Steam/GOG, so it would be worth it. Especially for those of us who don't have gaming rigs.

This belongs in a "Leopards Ate My Face" comm. They jacked up the price of the Xbox. They doubled the price of GamePass Ultimate, and most games added to it are just shovelware trash.

Here's a solution: Add Steam to GamePass Ultimate. What I'm saying is, for $23 a month or whatever it's down to now, you can use Steam and play all your Steam games that will run on XSX (which should be most of them since it's an x86-64 platform running a bastardised version of Windows). So you can get a game dirt cheap and play it on Xbox, but you have to pay Xbox monthly. You will still save money! Especially if you have a large Steam library. And not just Steam — add GOG and maybe Epic as well. So basically the platforms that have free games all the time. That would massively boost the value of GamePass, and since an XSX is still cheaper than a gaming PC, would offset the rising price of the console.

But who knows, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Let the Steam Machine come out and eat their lunch.

Well, if Meta gets to read my messages, the least they can do is comp me the phone. I'm not paying twice (with my money and with my privacy). I'm realistically never using a phone with Meta spyware in the first place, though.
