War letztens im REWE, normale Kasse war nicht besetzt.

Okay, ab an die SB-Kasse mit meinem vollen Korb, nach fünf Artikeln blockiert das Ding für nen Routinecheck und ich muss warten bis jemand kommt und es wieder freigibt.

Ich mache weiter, nach nochmal 10 Artikeln ein weiterer Routinecheck. Wieder warten bis jemand kommt.

Hab's bis zum Bezahlvorgang geschafft, wieder blockiert weil Alkohol gescannt wurde. Zum dritten Mal warten bis der Dude kommt und es freigibt.

Sorry, aber so sind SB-Kassen einfach nur scheiße.

Doesn't have to be a Mac, my GPD Win Max 2 has 64GB as well for a much lower price and it can somehow use 55GB on the integrated NPU (AMD 780M) for running models with ollama. I can even combine that with an external GPU on the Oculink port to increase the total memory.

It takes between 30s to 5min to get a reply, but it does work and it's mainly useful for going over my project asking how to improve the codebase.

Quality-wise it's good enough for boilerplate code and small improvements. Wouldn't trust it to work on big features in larger projects, but I don't trust LLMs in general for that. I don't see a big difference to ChatGPT and Gemini (which is a win for local hosting and putting the freedom of computing back into our own hands). But the usual caveats always apply. All models have their problems and people tend to overhype the capabilities of LLMs in general.

Last year a company shot me a message and now I work there. It was excellent timing on their part, because I was very unhappy with my employer back then.

I feel like LinkedIn has changed a lot since then, though. The platform is overrun with AI slop and I'm seriously thinking about deleting my account.

I doubt anything will actually happen, though - everyone with a brain already knew this. Although it is nice to finally have it on paper, now.

Investors are so insane, they'll still believe they can make a profit off OpenAI, until it inevitably crashes and burns.

I fear for the future of Double Fine. Hopefully Microsoft will not be the ones that will end the Psychonauts franchise. :(

Die (n)ostalgische Verklärung ist tief in der älteren Generation verankert. Bin selbst Ossi und meine Eltern auch - und ich bekomme jedes Mal eine Krise, wenn meine Mutter darüber schimpft, dass die ganzen negativen Berichte über die DDR ja Falschbehauptungen wären.

Eine der absurdesten Aussagen, die mir da immer sofort in den Kopf kommt: Sie erzählt immer, dass es damals in der ganzen DDR zu jeder Zeit Bananen gegeben hätte, weil sie selbst welche hatte. Handlungszwirbler: Sie hat für hochrangige SED-Funktionäre gekocht und konnte sich davon halt immer was mit nach Hause nehmen.

Weil sie persönlich in der glücklichen Lage war, jederzeit diese leckere Südfrucht essen zu können, müssen alle Medien lügen und die DDR war damals ganz toll, außerdem hat 10 Jahre auf nen Trabi zu warten ja auch niemandem geschadet, die Menschen waren viel toller und alle haben viel mehr zusammengehalten. So läuft die emotionsgetriebene "Argumentationskette" dann immer. Das kriegst du aus den Leuten auch nicht mehr rausgeprügelt, die wünschen sich mit viel Bauchi-Bauchi-Gefühl ihre gute alte Zeit zurück und reden sie sich selbst schön.
